One our favourite places on #Anglesey is Newborough Warren for its woodland walks, huge area of sand dunes and long gently sloping beach.
The wildlife includes red squirrels, cross bills and an estimated 2000 ravens that come home to roost avert night in the woodland.
This walk follows the beach as far as as the little island of Ynys Llanddwyn. Even when the beach is busy it’s so huge it’s never crowded and our dogs loved paddling and swimming in the shallow sea. It’s such a calming and peaceful place.
So we slowly made our way up the beach, throwing balls in the water for the dogs and standing amazed at the lifts out of the water the kite surfers were getting.
We had hoped to walk onto Ynys Llanddwyn but we arrived earlier than expected so it was still cut off by the tide.
So not having the time to hang around for the tide to change we walked back through the woodland to the car park. As the sun was setting we were accompanied by the cawing of the resident rooks coming home to roots.

There is plenty of parking, toilets and usually an ice cream van and burger bar. It can get a bit busy at peak time especially when leaving as you pay for parking at the exit barrier and there is only one pay point.
At low tide it’s not obvious Ynys Llanddwyn becomes an island when the tide comes in so always check the tide time or risk getting stuck until the next low tide.
