Blackberry Mead

So whilst the rest of the northern hemisphere swelters in heatwaves in northern England its not stopped raining through July and into August. It’s more like the back end of autumn going into winter.

On the plus side the blackberry bushes are loving it and blackberry’s are already ready to harvest. So one morning whilst out with my dogs I went foraging and came home with a bag of lovely tangy blackberries.

Not having any cheap whisky or vodka around to use them with, they went straight into the freezer until I could decide how to use them.

After a few days I came across a recipe for Blackberry Mead. Having already got a couple of jars of honey and demijohns sat around doing nothing I thought lets give it a go.

Hopefully the yeast is happy in its new home and will soon start bubbling away working its magic and in about 40 days time…… will let you know how it turned out.
