A couple of us needed a chill out day in the mountains. So we headed off to the Lake District and Coniston Old Man beckoned.
In order to avoid the crowds on the way up we used the route that goes passed Goats Water. The weather was grey and drizzly on the way up but this not dampen our spirits.

Gaining the top we were met with a crowd of people. Many of whom were ill equipped and were lucky the weather had improved rather than getting worse.

Heading down to the old copper mines we were staggered at the number of people going up without waterproofs, boots or any sign of maps etc.
We ended up back at the car feeling tired, chilled and hoping we wouldn’t see any mountain rescue call outs to the hoards climbing the mountain.
